A remote area is where an employee or group of employees does not have timely access (more than a 20-minute drive) to an appropriate hospital or medical centre capable of mounting an emergency response or ambulance station staffed by paid paramedics.

For isolated, remote locations or mobile workplaces, employees need to have access to
appropriate first aid kits. Eg Farms, Mining, Roadworks, Quarry, and Remote Communities.
